Uncle Tom who lives in Saratoga, CA for the past 30 years have been transforming his acreage residential property into an organic gardener's paradise with delicious exotic fruits and fresh picked luscious vegetables all year round. He can be considered the guru of a budget gardener to its truest sense. He not only recycled everything he finds around the house but always devise the most innovative way of doing propagations, composting, irrigations , fertilizing and pest control. We spent a day learning from him and tasting all his harvest. Our next visit will be in video ! Here are some of his delicious treasures from his garden.

1. Most beautiful pomegranates - over hundreds of them hanging: Tom started off with only one single 3 ft.  bush tree. By using his creative propagation method he successfully multiply it  to eight or nine,  6 ft tall bushy trees full of fruits. He has a few in progress right now ( wrapped in plastic bags on the tree limbs) ready for spring time transplanting.

2. Chinese grapefruits, big and heavy ( size of a baby water melon) hanging down the tree with bags supporting their weights. They will take a few more months before they are ripe enough for picking.

3. On top of a white trellis, tons of green weird looking fruits hanging. They are a type of  Chinese squash called "Buddha's Palm" hanging on the vine.

4. Another exotic tree is the Chinese apple pear , golden yellow pear like fruits, very crisp, juicy and sweet  with lots of healthy antioxidents. He harvested over 100 of them this season.

5. A variety of peaches and apricots all harvested for the season already.

6. Squash, bell shaped red peppers, pumpkins and tomatoes

7. Huge persimmon trees full of fruits.

8. Succulent Aloe Vera plants that can be used in salads.

9. Different types of citrus fruits galore. He does not pick all the oranges from last season because he purposely wanted them to stay on the tree another year longer to produce a sweeter juice and fruits. Believe it or not, we tried one of them from last year's crop that we picked from the tree and it was very very sweet indeed ! So he has this years green ones plus last years yellow oranges all in one single tree !

Tom usually searches for unique exotic fruits and vegetables.  We will ask for his gardening secrets in our next video interview during his spring harvest. Be sure to watch our next interview on video !
