Laying Flagstones on dry powdered cement surface |
There is an area in our yard that is always full of weeds, surrounded by roses and fruit trees that is difficult to landscape and control. We were looking for something that is easy to do ourselves and very inexpensive. We have a flagstone patio on one side and so to match the rest of the landscape, we decided to do a quick and easy flagstone walkway. This walkway will provide a path for us to prune the trees and roses and prevents the weeds from coming back. The path is 14 ft long and 30" wide. One bag of pea gravel cost $3.00, Each flagstone is about $2.50 each, concrete mortar is $4.00.
Where to buy
You can find flagstones, pea gravels, sand, ready mixed concrete or mortar from several places:
1. Rockeries (Tri-city in Fremont, CA)
2. Home Depot
3. Lowes
Generally, Rockeries have better prices, however, you have to fill the 50 lb. bags yourself or have some one help you. Home depot sells smaller packages but easier to carry.
