Don't Throw Away Your "DEAD" Hydrangeas

Remove all dead leaves and flowers
Transplanted to well drained soil after new growth in about  6 weeks
Beautiful blooming Hydrangeas are great for gifts. It is very tempting to pick up this gorgeous plant in full blooms at the grocery stores or at the nurseries..... However, the showy flowers and plant usually do not last too long. Most of the time, they look as though they are dead or  all dried up. Don't throw away your wilted Hydrangeas. They can be revived and start growing again! This is a normal cycle for most Hydrangeas. They wanted you to cut them off so that they can re-bloom again.  The best way is to  repot them again and keep it moist and in a bright spot away from direct sunlight.  You will see new shoots coming back in a few weeks. Transplant it to a semi shady area with good irrigations and some indirect sunlight.  They love water and they do drink a lot of water so please do not forget to water this plant often.

  1. Now that it's winter, my hydrangeas started looking tired and limp. Thanks for the tip. I shall remove leaves and trim it back. Hopefully it will recover in Spring.

  2. Happy to hear that you are giving the hydrangea the healthy treatment, you will not regret it. New leaves should be coming back and give you a smile in a shot while.
