Saucer Plant - Aeonium Undulatum

Our local Bay Area weather is perfect for some of the most beautiful cacti or succulents. The one in the photo that we bought  just a year ago from a Carmel Valley nursery has grown from a single one saucer plant  in a very small pot to over 40 budding saucers in less than 12 months.   There are many different kinds of cacti or succulents. This one we love because it spreads in a rosette and grows very fast.  Since it is a cactus, it is very drought tolerant, very hardy, no maintenance at all.  Another great plant for ground cover in a shady area. They are tough survivors because they can grow from one single leave petal or from cutting the rosette clusters and simply stick them into the dirt. This cactus also gives out a spectacular flower once in a while.  When we were dining at one of the restaurant in Los Gatos last month, we noticed that this Saucer Cactus has been chosen as a table centerpiece floral arrangement in the California Cafe Restaurant .  They offer a clean and contemporary look to the decor.  They  also make very good potted plants indoors and outdoors.
