Flowering buds are forming all over the plant, awaiting for Easter and early May to start producing the attractive large blooms ! This is the hardy type that will last for years. They are mentioned in ancient China as the most beautiful flowers, gracious and enormously large in size.
We have found that growing them in pots are easier to maintain than planting them in the soil. We have lost quite a few by planting in the soil. When they are dormant in " hibernation" , they look so dead that our "gardener " who only mows and blows the yard would throw them away for good ! Or they simply disappear under ground and may start to sprout with little notice. Growing in pots, would avoid such hazards. |
