A study from the Sage Colleges in Troy, New York finds that the gardeners are not only happier, they also might be smarter!. The researchers placed a link to the happy feelings gardeners have when they dig into the dirt. They may be in contact with the little soil organism called Mycobacterium vaccae, which decreases anxiety and increases serotonin the "happy hormone." This same common bacterium has now been linked to increase learning ability.
