Passionate About Rare Fruit Trees Grafting

Meeting Sue-Jane, a member of the California Rare Fruit Growers Association, has been passionate about grafting all kinds of fruit trees as a hobby for many years.  When her backyard was full of different blends of rare fruits, she started to plant them in her front yard. Fortunately she lives in a cul de sac that has a huge front yard. Now she has transformed her front area into a miniature rare fruits orchard that has become the envy of her neighbors.

Her joy is to see her successful blending of  all kinds of different fruit trees and harvest their fruits a year of two later. IT IS LIKE AN ART ! It is amazing to see all the cuttings she performed on those trees.  The tree branches are all bandaged up with new grafts and  labeled with names of each species and fruits.  She usually do all that  during the winter time when they are all dormant.  She enjoys doing experiments in mixing different fruits together of similar species and see how the fruits would turn out to be.

Below is the picture of Buddha Finger Fruit. The entire fruit is actually all "lemon-like skin" that grows like tendrils of finger-like lemons. There is no flesh, no meat in the finger like fruit. It gives out a very strong lemon fragrance.  It can be used as  lemon rinds for baking lemon flavored cakes and cookies. The lemon fragrance is very strong, much stronger than  regular lemon rinds. Also good for cutting them up to spice up regular plain water to give it a fresh lemon taste.
