A look at an effective way to do irrigation with water conservation

I was walking along the path along the Ko Olina beach park in Honolulu, Hawaii and saw the workmen preparing the irrigation of the raised flower beds.  I was fascinated by the way the tubes are arranged. This arrangement took a lot of work but it does the job very well. The water is not splatter on top of the plants but drip through a lot of little tiny holes. The tubes are placed on top of the soil neatly laid out. According to the workmen/landscape people, this method saves a lot of water and does not splatter on to passerby.
